She loves fruits and hates vegtables..she LOVES to eat her graham crackers, and teases Syd with them. Jordyn is such a Daddy's girl. Grant can get her to laugh so hard, and she always gives him the cutest smiles..She is such a happy baby. We are so lucky to have such a Sweet girl...
Kari Sonsteby Folkerson VI ELSKER DEG Our dear sweet mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, wife and friend passed away peacefully on the eve of Valentine's Day, February 13th, 2009 to be with her eternal sweetheart. Kari was born on January 10th, 1924 in Larvik, Norway. She was the youngest of four daughters born to Olaf Kristian Sonsteby and Kristofa Wilhelmine Nielsen Bisjord Sonsteby. She was educated in Norway and experienced many things as a young girl growing up in Norway and especially during the war. Her father Olaf was the mission president for the LDS Church during the war and was a great example to his family. Kari, along with her parents and sister Enid traveled by sea to America when she was 24 to be closer to the saints. She soon met her eternal companion, Richard Lee Folkerson and they were sealed June 23rd, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mom did not tell us how to live, she showed us. She showed us by example as she raised her children in the gospel. She showed us faith, knowing how hard it was for her to leave her beloved Norway for a better life here in America. She showed us how to work hard as she labored side by side with her husband in the family owned business, Lee's Sales & Service. She showed us commitment and unconditional love as she tenderly cared for her husband for seven years after he suffered a major head injury and was unable to care for himself. When Dad passed away in 2004, a big part of her went with him. We will forever be grateful to our mom for all the wonderful traditions both American and Norwegian that she passed on to us. The one we enjoy the most is when we gather together on Christmas Eve and celebrate our Savior's birth and all the wonderful memories and traditional Norwegian food. She loved to entertain and had a special bond with her Norwegian friends. A few days before she passed, Kari had her arms crossed on her chest with a big smile and her head swaying back and forth. When asked, Kari said she was dancing with her sweetheart. She now is dancing with her sweetheart and we will miss her deeply. We love you Mom. She is survived by her children, Steven Richard (Kay), David Olaf (Gail), Kari Anne Carroll (Laurey), and Richard Lee Folkerson Jr. (Jennifer); her 13 special grandchildren and 11 beautiful great-grand-children with one on the way. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, a great-grandchild and a very special friend Bitten. Funeral services will be held Tues., February 17th, at 11 a.m. at the Winder 3rd Ward, 1250 East 4530 S., Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends and family may call on Monday night at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Dr., from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. A special thanks to the Brighton Gardens for the wonderful care they gave to our mother the past four years. We would also like to thank Hospice for Utah for helping us through the final days of our mother's life.
Last night was a night I will NEVER forget! My sweet Grandma Kari passed away..... We were with her when she took her last breath. Grant and I decided to meet my Mom and Dad and Uncle Rick and Aunt Jenny for dinner. So we met and ate and then headed up to see my Grandma Kari. We walked into the room and I just lost it...my Grandma was fading away and you could tell it was not going to be long. My Mom sat down on the bed by her, and my Grandma had her eyes open just like she was waiting for my Mom... My Mom was holding her hand and I was holding her other... Then my Mom said I love you Mom, its okay to go and be with Dad. Not even 1 minute later my Grandma stopped breathing and she was gone. It was such a sweet humbling moment that will always be with me...I know my Grandma was waiting for my Mom to be there before passing. I could just feel the spirit in the room and know that my Grandpa was in there too.. My Grandma looked so peaceful. We know she is so much happier. We all said that my Grandpa couldn't wait to be with his Valentine! I bet they are up there right know having such a great reunion! Grandma thanks for being such a wonderful example, you are the best and we Love you so much!!

Lose weight that is! I am bound and determined to lose 30lbs! I know its going to be hard..But it will definitely be worth it! I went jogging today with Jordyn for a little bit, and it felt so good. Except for the jiggle I was feeling! Hopefully that will be gone soon. I know if I don't do it now, it will just be harder, especially when I start my hygiene program in August, and really don't have time! If any of you have advice feel free to share!
My cute lil' Norwegian Grandma Kari is such an amazing person..I have so many wonderful memories thanks to her. She is such an amazing example to us all. She has been through thick and thin, and despite it all, I have never heard her say one bad thing! This past week was awful! We found out she is fighting a bad infection in her body, and there's not much we can do.... So we are having hospice come in, and take over for her pain, and there not sure how much longer she will be with us... We have always been good at going up and visiting her, but now we're makin sure we do it even more. She is so fun to be around and makes you laugh.. We love to talk about old times with her, and hear all her crazy Norwegian stories. Here are some pics from the last couple days we've gone up. We always bring her lots of treats. Her all time favorite things are rum balls, and little chocolate candies full of liqour:) So we bring her lots...and of course share them with her. I must say they are pretty darn good!:) After she eats them she always says, Gosh I hope I make it to Heaven..........Grandma I'm sure you will:) We Love you!
